Education Improves Ai Prompts

Rather than having been a waste of time, an education can make ChatGPT be far more helpful or specific.

“When you have an education ChatGPT does way more for you!”

I used a ChatBot to develop the following joke. The written prompt ideas were preparatory, but accumulated during the process.

Make sorting x and y Cartesian coordinates ascending on a regression dataset, both humorous AND relatable to a wide audience.

Step one, we are gonna NUMBER every x,y pair, 1-50.

Somehow the x’s and y’s are going to keep their numbering, and this is how we discover they have been re-associated.

R value < 0.5 is the bomb!

Building comments: r value is kind of like pass/fail in school. It is not on a continuum.

A continuum represents How ripe a tomato is; a watermelon has a handy double entendre.

R values are more like pregnant or not pregnant.

So Darren, what have you been doing with yourself lately?

We’ve been doing regression analysis on data sets for an AI model.

Sounds like a cross between counting resistors for a physical inventory, and accounting.

Oh, it’s more like herding cats or counting sheep. Everything depends on a good “r” value. When you have good “r” values, you win a chess. When you have bad “r” values you end up checking daemon logs where the computer emptied the recycle bin.

What’s the best R value you ever had?

Oh, I think I had a 0.34 one time… but on an experimental data set, not a real world analysis.

I see. So how good would a 0.7 be?

You gotta understand R values are not on a continuum, they’re more like pass/fail on a semester work.

What’s a continuum? 0.7 isn’t even all the way to ONE!

On short notice, I’d might compare it to how far you got along when crossing a bridge, or how ripe a watermelon would be.

Whereas R values are more like pregnant and not pregnant?

Exactly. You shoulda been there Wednesday.

Why what happened? Wednesday?

Kevin was trying to show that smoking causes cancer, and he had the bright idea of sorting his x’s and y’s separately, instead of admitting it wasn’t working.

How do you mean?

Frank! There’s ethical considerations. Correlation does not prove causality, but more importantly, the good R values in a smoking study come from analyzing COPD, not cancer.

So what happened when he did it wrong?

Man oh man! He had a spectacular R value, but he had x7 associated to Y11, x2 against Y9 and so forth and so on.

So they couldn’t tell if she was pregnant or not?

Oh, she was pregnant alright. They just couldn’t tell ANYTHING about who tha daddy was.
